The research center conducts theoretical and technological research on agricultural remote sensing and precision agriculture, focusing on remote sensing of farmland yield estimation, monitoring of pests and diseases, automatic control of agricultural machinery, and precise fertilization. The main research includes remote sensing spectral characteristics of crops, agricultural non-point source and heavy metal pollution monitoring, automatic control, and water and fertilizer integration technology.

The research center is equipped with a SatImageStation satellite image workstation, which can receive ZY3-01, ZY3-02, GF1, GF2, GF1-B, GF1-C, GF1-D, GF6 and other satellite images of Yunnan Province in real time. It is also equipped with 11 fixed-wing and multi-rotor UAVs such as RGB, multi-spectral and thermal infrared.

In view of the significant vertical difference in altitude, broken terrain, and frequent wind shear in plateau mountainous areas, which lead to large differences in resolution of conventional high-definition flight images, and poor attitude stability, the research center has developed UAV terrain matching flight control, Multi-GNSS navigation, multi-spectral camera and attitude control system; proposed vegetation index resynthesis algorithm, constructed crop yield estimation model and dynamic monitoring model; carried out UAV low-altitude photogrammetry and remote sensing, growth monitoring and farmland yield estimation, and dynamic monitoring of village changes on a large scale.

In view of the problems of few points and incomplete coverage of lake water quality monitoring, and based on the principle of automatic control of unmanned aerial vehicles, the research center has developed an automatic control water quality measurement vessel, which has functions of data collection, video and picture collection, data transmission, data analysis, etc. It can realize full coverage of lake water surface water quality monitoring, It can monitor the parameters such as Cod, TOC, pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, salinity, turbidity, ORP, chlorophyll, ammonia nitrogen, oil in water, blue-green algae, temperature, etc. in real time.

The research center researches and develops equipments of Internet of Things such as meteorology, soil, and hydrology to realize the whole-process monitoring of agricultural production factors, and realize the digital transformation of agricultural production accordingly. With the goals of digital agriculture demonstration base construction and agricultural non-point source pollution monitoring, we carries out technological innovation of agricultural perception Internet of Things.
